From Love to DeathAcceptance
We sat together    Hand in hand On a red-checkered picnic rug, Edges frayed. The clouds were stained with an orange glow. Sunlight played    Off the ocean far below. Your hair drifted in the wind And swept across your eyes.
Here, in the waist-high grass On a plateau at the top of a cliff,    We laughed,    We talked,    We dreamed. And as eagles glided high above, Silhouettes against the setting sun…    We knew love.
